This guide is for overseas readers outside of Korea, who want to read adult novels on Bomtoon. It only takes 5 minutes to apply for adult verification on Bomtoon!
Before you begin: You will need a screenshot of either your driver's license, national ID card or passport.
Create a Bomtoon Account
Firstly, I recommend turning on the in-browser translator to navigate the website. If you're on Chrome desktop, you can click the 3 dots at the top right corner, then click "Translate...".
Go to Bomtoon and click on the user profile icon.
Then, either use a social authentication method (e.g. Google, Facebook, etc.) or your email address to create an account. To use your email address, click the "Join the membership" button and go through the steps.
Apply for Adult Verification
After you've created an account, click on your profile icon in the top right corner again. Then, click on "customer service center".
Click the "1:1 Inquiry" button.
Then, click on the pink "1:1 Inquiry" button. You will be directed to a form.
Select "Foreign adult certification" from the inquiry type dropdown menu.
Fill in the rest of the form. You will need to upload a screenshot of your driver's license, national ID card or passport - they only need your name, nationality and date of birth, so you can blur out all the other information before submitting if you wish.
Once you submit, it takes about 1 week for them to approve your application. They do not send you an email, so you will need to come back and check on the status of your application.
Checking on your application status
Go back to the "1:1 Inquiry" page. You will see "Adult Certification Completed" once they have approved it.
Toggle the "19" at the top bar to view adult content.
Still not able to view adult novels?
Many users have reported that they still cannot view adult novels even after it shows "Adult certification completed". This is due to a manual verification issue on Bomtoon's side.
If you face this issue, make another 1:1 inquiry (use the same steps above), but this time select "Error" from the inquiry type dropdown menu.
In the inquiry description, enter the following message: "I have completed the adult certification process, but I still cannot view adult novels on Bomtoon. Please help me to fix this issue."
It will take about 1-2 days for them to respond to you, after that, you'll be able to view adult novels on Bomtoon. The response looks like this:
